Take Off Your Jacket… and Stay a While

February 26, 2012 by SavvyInTheCity

Some people feel distressed/sad/disappointed/unfulfilled when they don't make time to exercise. Well, that's how I feel about blogging. When I haven't blogged in a while, I'm disappointed in myself and I feel like I have so much pent up content/ideas/stories/etc. Thank you to my sister Anna for helping me get out some of the blogedness I've been holding inside for the past few weeks. Note to self: keep working hard in the day job but make time to blog!

I've been wanting to do this post for a while because I'm a blazer and jacket fanatic — and we're in the throws of light jacket weather here in Atlanta. Below are a handful of my faves.

There's one thing all these blazers and jackets have in common…. they're all from Goodwill! And with the exception of the brown suede Alfani blazer ($10), the vintage, grey leather trench ($16) and the sleeveless trench (originally $5 but paid $10 to have the sleeves taken off), all the blazers and jackets pictured here were $5.55 or less. You certainly can't beat Alfani, Armani Exchange, Banana Republic, GAP, Limited, Tahari and fun vintage pieces for that price tag. My guess is that the Tahari black (slightly sateen) blazer retailed for around $350 or $400.

One of my personal missions is to clear up the stigmas that 1) it's hard to find anything good at Goodwill and 2) that Goodwill is only for people who can't afford to shop other places. (Goodwill needs paying customers of any/all kinds because it's mission is to provide job opportunities and development. They can't staff up without shoppers!)

Thanks to my beautiful/helpful paparazzi sister for helping me with today's post! Oh, and she's the one who gifted me with the super cute berry-colored, wool Talbot's blazer. And to put the cherry on top, it was serendipitous that she showed up to my house today wearing a thrifted — and totes cute — jacket herself (The GAP, I believe). I'm so proud!

What are you wearing this time of year? Any good thrift finds yourselves?
